Commentaire: I have been invited to hang a show in 2010 at the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge in Kodiak, Alaska and would like to incorporate
mail art from around the world as part of the exhibit. Even though Kodiak is an island, and isolated from the rest of the world in
many ways, I believe that we are all connected by the vast oceans that seem to divide us. Please send your thoughts, visions,
dreams, poetry, imaginings, and interpretations of the sea.
I will launch a blog to document all mail art received for this event as it arrives in Alaska, and will post a link here on IUOMA.
I am looking forward to seeing the many ways in which people are inspired by the sea. Right now the deadline for receiving mail
art is open ended, as we are still working out the date for this show. I will post more details as this event further unfolds.

most of the calls on Mail Art Forums as follows:
a) it's directed and therefore compromised
b) it's for an existing artwork rather than a mail art show
But this still involves mail, not email, because a made mark is required. So here goes - I
positively welcome mail response to add to an ongoing artwork called "Falco subbuteo subbuteo
(The Hobby)". It's about birdwatching (and art).

A bird may or may not have been removed from that picture. You are invited to print off a pdf
(see link on web page) and then use your skill and judgment to mark the exact center of the
bird on the picture. If you then send it back to me at the location quoted on the pdf,
supplying your nme and address where shown, I’ll cut it out and put your contribution on
table in front of an enlarged version of the image. And put it in two art exhibitions, one in
London in Nov 2008, the other in Plymouth in Feb 2008. And more shows, as the piece grows and
time moves on.
If you are really up for it, by all means make a number of marks on the paper, at no cost to
you beyond your time and inclination. Or make just one (mark). Or whatever. And if you're
really worried about identity, just make up a name and address. But I need people to enter
something there or else the whole point is lost.

The blackbird is an important element in the symbology of all the history of the arts. Already
it was seen as a species of God in the civilizations of the antiquity. In the Average Age, it
was harm-luck signal. Poets as Poe (1809 - 1849) already had written on the black bird. Van
Gogh, in its pictures, make reference to references corvos. In Brazilian Hinterland, is had as
symbol of dries, of the dryness of the climate. Also it was sung by Gonzaga Luiz (1912 - 1989),
Brazilian composer, in music "Black Assum". To you? What a black bird can represent?

Commentaire: My name's Debbie and I own a cafe/bar/restaurant in Sherwood, Nottingham, England, UK. I came
across your website while searching for mail artists and am writing to ask for some input to an
idea I've had...
I've just recently taken over the restaurant and am looking to introduce a cafe/bar scrap book.
The scrap book is a sort of 'collection' consisting of images, words, ideas and photographs and
I am inviting customers to read, comment and add to its pages...I want to include your mail art
work in there, if you'd like to send me some! It's a way of getting the mail art message out
there and because I love the collaborative nature of mail art I want to do anything I can to
support it!
My hope is to create a database, of texture, colour and 'good stuff to look at!' A coffee table
book in the truest sense of the word, with an evolution all of its own - yay!

descendents. No one puts flowers, messages, or gifts on these graves anymore. Let's give new

Je n'ai découvert le mail art que depuis très très peu de temps mais les
blogs et sites consultés à ce sujet me parlent tellement que je sens une
nouvelle passion en train de naître...
Washi m’a gentiment indiqué ce forum et me voilà.
Ce qui m'amène: ma fille aura 20 ans la semaine prochaine et j'aimerais
beaucoup qu'elle ait la surprise à cette occasion de découvrir ce que sont les
mails-art.

- aime beaucoup la musique classique et en particulier le piano dont elle joue
depuis de nombreuses années et le violon
- aime la calligraphie
- totem scout: Quetzal un très joli oiseau d'Amérique du sud
- affinité avec l'Inde et le Sri Lanka: son prénom Sri Lankai: Sepalika (fleur
blanche qu’on offre dans les temples appelé aussi jasmin nocturne)

En la excelente biografía que Calvin Tomkins realizó sobre Duchamp, lo llama
"el anartista", un exacto juego de palabras: el anti-artista, en
definitiva lo que el mismo Duchamp decidió ser luego de haber realizado obras
monumentales cambiando el clásico tema de la figura en reposo, investigado en
el movimiento y la idea de máquina humana. Con su "Desnudo descendiendo
por una escalera", y con "El Gran vidrio" (una obra en la que
trabajó durante diez años, realizada sobre un soporte de vidrio donde recupera
los principios de perspectiva y trata las figuras como una proyección de una
cuarta dimensión invisible) demostró que ese "anartista" era capaz
de pintar lo que le viniese en ganas: desde un cuadro convencional, hasta la
maravillosa representación del tiempo y el movimiento fragmentados. Duchamp se
dio el gusto, el gran gusto de renunciar, de volver, de abandonarlo todo, de
seguir produciendo, de vivir en el límite mismo de su vida como una verdadera
obra cotidiana y en el filo, haciendo, demoliendo, importándole nada si genio o
fraude si arte o que. Jamás se cuestionó que era arte, simplemente lo generó

Poetry Lawn Mowing
Comment: Lambertism is the New Art movement that quests to
find the poetry of the incomprehsible. Lambertism is named after a poet who
inadvertently started the movement by publishing a Poem called "Lawn."
Since Our founder is seemingly insulted that anyone would want to do poetry in
his style and with the force of inequity and the impossibleness of complete
incomprehsion it affords the reader he can never come into his own promised land
of meaningless poetic responsibility. Lambertism goes so far beyond anything
abusrd or unreal or sureal as to be something that can only be described as
Lambertism He is the founder but not a lambertist. The first lambertist, someone
mistakenly known as Rondo still does not believe he is a Lambertist. If you are
a visual poet or a poet who does incomprehesible meaningless poetry that is
beyond any interpertation then you are probably a Lambertist and do not yet know
it. Now maybe you do?
To find out if you are indeed a Lambertist Send us your Lambertism work and if
indeed you are Lambertine your work will become part of the biggest new form of
poetry in the 21st century yet discovered.
Here is what a typical lambertist poem might look like in written form, though
it can also be sent in picture graphic form:
A Mercedes Benze coop ,top down, sunshine, hairy gurilla driver , movie blond
girl in the passenger seat-- oh so sweet. I can smile for the taste of sizzling
rice and dream of flywheel thrills. Monkey headed chicken fez mongers rule the
world and I shall have breakfast now.
If you get the meaning you are missing what Lambertism is all about. If you are
happy that the poem makes no sense and love it for its shear innocence of
meaning than you are an aspiring Lambertist. Lets do Breakfast Wonder.

piece of a series of works that I have been working on which all relate to the
game 'Perfection' and my interest in Plato and the Platonic ideal. If I have

basically worked out in my head and in sketches. I hope to get that done.
PS: If anyone reading this is interested in participating in the mail art
project I mentioned above, please feel free to print
out the project and mail it back. You will probably have to glue the printout to
a piece of 4.25" x 5.5" cardstock so that it will be sturdy enough to
be mailed back to me. It is important that the finished postcard be that exact
size because I display the returned cards in a specific grid that doesn't really
allow for a great deal of size differentiation.

Je m'appelle Elona, j'ai 5 ans et je suis la fille de Washi...
J'adore faire des mail-art avec maman mais je suis un peu jalouse parce qu'elle
reçoit plein de jolies choses et moi...zéro!!! C'est pas juste!
Dans ma chambre, il y a un grand panneau où j'accroche toutes les jolies images
que j'aime et j'aimerais pouvoir accrocher des mail-art, mais pas ceux de maman,
les miens!
Maman, elle m'a dit que sur le forum de l'ordinateur, on peut écrire des thèmes
pour que des gens m'envoient des mail-art, alors moi, je veux être inscrite
bien sûr!
J'ai dit à maman: "je promets de faire un mail-art aux gens qui m'écrivent!
promis!" parce qu'elle m'a bien expliqué que le mail-art c'est avant tout
un échange et j'ai tout bien compris!
Alors voilà, moi j'aime les princesses, les papillons, les arc-en-ciel, les
animaux et tout ce qui brille et qui fait "princesse"... j'espère que
ça va vous donner des idées...

Nous voulons organiser une expo itinérante des oeuvres reçues, en faire un catalogue avec une petite présentation, commentaire et textes des artistes participant. Le tout va prendre un peu de temps, il faut trouver les
sponsors. Nous allons aussi mettre en ligne les travaux reçu ainsi que les
informations. Pour cela, il vous suffit d’envoyer par la poste des messages : lettre dessin, lettre collage, enveloppe revue et corrigée, objets plastiques,
calligraphie... Les créations Art Postal doivent être suffisamment affranchies et peuvent être à plat, en relief ou en volume, n'excédant pas le format A4 (21cm x 29,7 cm) sur 10 cm d'épaisseur.
Les objets seront exposés dans les lieux que nous allons trouver au cour de l'année 2006 etc...
